Family Spice Recipe for Chicken Alfredo Calzones

 

Chicken Alfredo Calzones

This rich and creamy sauce isn’t just for pasta! Paired with diced chicken, mushrooms and broccoli you’ve got a fun meal in a pocket.

 

 

  1. Preheat oven to temperature recommended on pizza dough packaging.
  2. In a medium-sized skillet over medium heat add:
    • 1/2 tsp olive oil
  3. When oil is hot cook add:
  4. Stir in:
    • 3/4 cup mushrooms, sliced
    • 1/4 cup onions, diced
  5. Sauté until vegetables soften, about 3 minutes.
  6. Stir in:
    • 1/2 cup broccoli florets, frozen and chopped
    • 1/2 cup cooked chicken, chopped
  7. Cook until broccoli softens, 3-5 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in:
    • 1 tsp lemon juice (optional)
    • 3/4 cup homemade or store bought Alfredo Sauce
  9. Remove from case and cut in half:
    • 1 roll of refrigerated pizza dough
  10. Form dough into two 6-inch circles and place on a pizza stone or lightly greased baking sheet.
  11. Pour half of the Alfredo mixture onto half of each pizza circle.
  12. Pull empty circle half up over the Alfredo side and cover like a blanket.
  13. Seal edges by using a fork to push the two dough halves together.
  14. Using a pastry brush or spoon, brush the top of the calzones with:
    • 1 egg, beaten
  15. Bake as package recommends until dough is browned.
