Family Spice Recipe for Peach Crumb Bars

Peach Crumb Bars

Craving peach pie but don't want the fuss? This treat will definitely satisfy any peach craving!

INGREDIENTS:

FOR THE DOUGH:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cold
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

FOR THE FILLING:

  • 5 cups diced peaches (about 7 peaches)
  • 2 TBS lemon juice
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg

 

  1. Preheat oven to 375ºF.
  2. Grease a 9" x 13" baking pan.
  3. In a medium bowl whisk together:
    • 3 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • ¼ tsp salt
  4. Using a pastry blender to cut in:
    • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cold
  5. Mix in:
    • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  6. The dough will be crumbly. Press half of the dough into the prepared pan.
  7. Place the pan and the remainder of the dough in the refrigerator while you prepare the filling.
  8. In a large bowl, gently mix together:
    • 5 cups diced peaches (about 7 peaches)
    • 2 TBS lemon juice
  9. In a separate bowl, whisk together:
    • ½ cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • ¼ tsp salt
    • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
    • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  10. Pour flour mixture over the peaches and mix gently.
  11. Spread the peach mixture evenly over the refrigerated crust.
  12. Crumble the remaining dough over the peach layer.
  13. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top is slightly brown.
  14. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
